Fonts, Fonts, and Tiger OSX and Corruption...
Okay, for all of you who are font-greedy and need some advice on what to do when you installed a bunch of fonts and your computer gives you unpleasant font error messages (Microsoft Word esp.) like please remove corrupt font files...I was lucky enough to come across Corrupt Font Errors in Word 2004/OS X 10.4.x (Tiger) for what to do with the whole mess...There's two great apps, the first is free and is called Linotype FontExplorer X and the second one called Font Doctor (the link in the article doesn't actually work, but this softpedia link does) actually fixes the corrupt fonts but it costs $69.99. The demo version WILL diagnose the corrupt fonts, though...After messing with my FontBook app for hours and realizing that it is really not that much of a help, is slow, and takes up so much of the processor power that I barely made any progress, well these two apps helped me out a lot...
