What! I'm Listening to...(Part 12)
I've been listening to the Script, an Irish pop band reminiscent of Maroon5...and Chanj is dropping an album later this year...I heard him perform for the Apollo's 75th Anniversary. He is a sick ass artist. I like Panda Bear. He's ethereal and remind me of the Shins. Earl Scruggs, Lester Flatt & The Foggy Mountain Boys are great country music. So is Marty Robbins. Palace Music is mellow. (The last few recommendations I took from a Facebook list of top 40 albums. Thanks Amy for the recs.) Carmen McRae sings a great version of "What Lola Wants." I just rediscovered Johnny "Guitar" Watson again. His styles seemed to change with whatever era of music in a timely and yet eloquent use of the guitar...My greatest find as of late is Shirley Horn upon recommendation from Steven...She has vocal skills that can melt hard steel into liquid butter...Cleo Laine and Mel Torme have a duet album called "Nothing without You". It is amazing, that is if you are a fan of Mel and Cleo...Heh...
